Scorpio Roman Mosaic

The Picture of Roman Mosaic - Scorpio detail from the third century C.E is courtesy of Sacred Destinations from Flickr. It is kept at Rheinisches Landesmuseum in Bonn, which is one of the oldest museums in Germany. The Mosaic was found at Munster Sarnsheim near Bingen. The motif of the twelve signs is abundant in Roman art. Scorpio and the other entire signs of the zodiac surround the chariot of the Sun. Isn’t it amazing that after so many decades we still use the same astrological symbols?
