Colum Hourihane wrote in his book Time in the Medieval World that Scorpio was connected in medieval art to October, viewed from above, could have a long tail starting from the head, or could look like a dog, or a tortoise with shell (because the artists in Europe didn’t have a model of a real Scorpio in front of their eyes).
